World Owl Trust
The Owl Centre, operated by the World Owl Trust is home to the most comprehensive collection of owls in the world - over 45 species from mighty Eagle Owls to tiny Pygmy Owls. Here you can see species not to be seen anywhere else; the beautiful, the curious, the large and the small - and most important of all, the endangered.
At 2.30pm enjoy the Meet the Birds Show and learn more about these wonderful birds. Weather permitting, the birds will be flying. Also at 4.30pm is Heron Happy Hour, probably the best viewing point in the UK to see wild herons every day.
The World Owl Centre is at the heart of the UK's conservation-breeding programmes for owls and you can become part of the battle to save these enigmatic birds from extinction.
We also have a dedicated hospital where we are able to treat and rehabilitate injured wildlife.

Directions from Ravenglass station
Two options (see map). The first is to walk using the beginning of the famous Eskdale Trail (marked in red on the map). Distance is 1 ½ miles, turn right out of the station then take a right turn before the campsite entrance and continue to the Roman Bath House on the left hand side. Just past here follow the path to the left and continue up to Newtown House. Here take a fork to the left and follow the path until you reach the main gate into Muncaster Gardens. The walk would take approximately 20 minutes.A very limited bus service operates Monday - Saturday from the car park next to Ravenglass station. There is only one bus in each direction per day between Ravenglass and Muncaster Castle:
Depart Ravenglass at 9.52am, arrive at Muncaster Castle main gate at 9.56am.
Depart Muncaster Castle main gate at 2.56pm, arrive at Ravenglass at 3pm.
