Cumbrian Coast Day Ranger

Seascale
Connecting the border city of Carlisle in the north with the ship-building town of Barrow-in-Furness in the south, the Cumbrian Coast line is an 85-mile journey with many contrasts. Explore the Georgian town of Whitehaven, visit the Lake District National Park's only coastal village of Ravenglass, discover the history of Barrow at the town's Dock Museum, or just enjoy the spectacular scenery with the sea on one side and fells on the other.

Cumbria Round Robin

The Beacon, Whitehaven
Take the train in either direction on this circular tour of Cumbria taking in the Cumbrian Coast, Furness line and the West Coast main line. An exciting day out with plenty of places to explore, including the Border city of Carlisle, Georgian Whitehaven on the coast, the red-rose city of Lancaster and the market town of Penrith in the Eden valley. And don't forget the Laurel and Hardy museum in Ulverston!

Lakes Day Ranger

Travel the Cumbrian Coast Line with Northern
Take the train, then hop on a bus and discover more of The Lake District or even take a cruise on Windermere. One ticket covers you on the train, Stagecoach buses and Windermere Lake Cruises' scheduled services.

Terms and conditions

Time restrictions

You can use the Cumbria Day Ranger, Cumbrian Coast Day Ranger, Lakes Day Ranger or the Cumbria Round Robin at any time. Sunday services are limited on some routes and there is no Sunday service between Barrow-in-Furness and Whitehaven.

Where to purchase

You can buy your Day Ranger or Round Robin tickets at your local staffed station. When boarding at an unstaffed station, or if the ticket office is closed, you can buy them from the conductor on the train.

Prices

The prices shown are valid until 1 January 2013.

Railcard and Child discounts

Railcard discounts are available on most of our Day Ranger and Round Robin tickets (where conditions of the railcard are met).

Children 5 - 15 years old inclusive travel at half the Adult fare except on family tickets, where no further discount applies. Please see individual Day Ranger or Round Robin tab for more details. A Lakes Day Ranger family ticket is available for two adults and up to two children travelling together – two adults can travel together without a child. No railcard discounts are available.

Added value

You can use the Cumbria Day Ranger, Cumbrian Coast Day Ranger, Lakes Day Ranger or the Cumbria Round Robin to get 20% off a single or return ticket on the Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway.

A Lakes Day Ranger also includes travel on Stagecoach in Cumbria bus services (except school buses) within Cumbria including to / from Lancaster on service 555 and many other Cumbria County Council supported bus services. You can also take a cruise on Windermere with Windermere Lake Cruises and discounts are also available on Ullswater Steamers and the Lakeside & Haverthwaite Railway.
