Engineering

So you are interested in a role in our Engineering Team?

There are many roles in our Engineering Team. We have traincare depots across our network as well as a Head Office Team based in York.

Northern Engineering is responsible for delivering safe, clean, reliable trains, on time for the public. Engineering production methods are based on a continuous improvement system called SMART Thinking, which is based on Lean Production and the elimination of non-value added waste.

Roles in our Engineering team include:

  • Fitter
  • Depot Train Drivers
  • Technicians
  • Cleaners
  • Electricians

Because we provide a transport service to the public, it’s not a 9-5 job. We need you to be able to deal with the varying shift patterns, which can start at any time of day/night plus also work weekends too.
