15th June 2012
Visitors travelling through Blackpool North station on Saturday 16 June are in for a treat as Northern Rail rolls out the red carpet for the station’s community day.
Kicking off from 10am, staff have organised the day’s activities to raise awareness with the local community about the important work undertaken by Northern Rail, its Station Adopters and Community Rail Partnerships in the area.
Results of such partnerships are clear to see at the station, with care being taken to keep passengers updated with detailed information boards as well as maintaining beautiful flower displays.
Infamous steam locomotive, The Duchess of Sutherland will be making a guest appearance and there will also be model railway displays and heritage bus trips to the glittering Golden Mile promenade for everyone to enjoy. There will also be an opportunity to speak to Northern’s station management team and voice your opinions on what matters most to you.
Wayne Smith, Station Manager for Northern Rail comments: “Community days such as this one at Blackpool North are a great way for the area team to give something back to the local community and help us keep them involved in making the most of their local station. We hope to see many of our supporters out in force for what promises to be a great day for all involved. We’re proud to support the local communities we serve.”
Donations collected on the day will be given to The British Heart Foundation.
