Northern Rail is now connecting even more passengers from Garsdale to Leeds with the welcome introduction of an additional morning stop.
Leaving Carlisle at 0550, the service calls at Garsdale at 0659, offering customers for the first time, a connection into Leeds before 9am.
The Friends of Settle and Carlisle Line have long hoped to reconnect the area with the city of Leeds early in the morning and the service has now been in place since the beginning of May.
Drew Haley, Client and Stakeholder Manager, Northern Rail comments: “This additional stop at Garsdale has opened up more travel options for rail users in the Upper Dales and Eden Valley. We hope it will not only allow more passengers to access the beautiful Settle – Carlisle line but also introduce more journey opportunities for smaller, local communities into Leeds.”
Richard Morris, Chairman of The Friends of the Settle-Carlisle Line comments: "Friends of the Settle-Carlisle Line welcome the inclusion of a stop at Garsdale for the early morning train from Carlisle in the new timetable. We were delighted when this direct service was introduced a year ago, allowing people from Carlisle and the Eden Valley to get to Leeds before 9 am for the first time in years.”
The service leaves Carlisle at 0550, calls at Garsdale at 0659 and arrives into Leeds at 0837.
